yeah, fun. List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what they are. They must be songs you are presently enjoying. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re listening to. 1. J Dilla "Reckless Driving" 2. Stevie Wonder "As" 3. New York Community Choir "Express Yourself" 4. Dennis Parker "Like An Eagle" 5. Time Bandits "Live It Up" 6. Queen Samantha "Take A Chance" 7. Kool & the Gang "Love and Understanding" 1. Grab the nearest book. 2. Open the book to page 23. 3. Find the fifth sentence. 4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions. 5. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST. 6. Tag five other people to do the same. here's mine, from CMOS - Digital Integrated Circuits - Analysis and Design: Both top-down and bottom-up approaches have to be combined for a successful design. For instance, if a chip designer defines an architecture without close estimation of the corresponding chip area, then it is very likely that the resulting chip layout exceeds the area limit of the available technology. In such a case, in order to fit the architecture into the allowable chip area, some functions may have to be removed and the design process must be repeated. i love school. ill tag chaircrusher, fishead, mikebee, ncw, mkb_technologie, aboleth, troutsoup, and roellafatty. mainly just to see if they actually read my journal when i do happen to post in it ;) Current Mood: irritated Current Music: j dilla "wild"

November 7th, 200610:58 am: it's the first tuesday after the first monday in november, you all know what that means.....
I follow politics pretty closely. Like most everyone, I've heard the stories about how the Dems are going to win and hopefully we'll see the end of the GOP reign that we've been subjected to. And then the world will be a better place, right? Remember, it was the Dems who allowed Bush to have his unfettered power to do as he wished in Iraq. It was Bill Clinton who cut welfare to shreds in the 90's. Life is not suddenly going to be better for everyone. Sure, maybe the most gratuitous and obvious civil rights violations perpetrated by the GOP will be repealed. Don't think that it will signal the end of all of them though. Dems voted for the Patriot Act as well. There is only one thing that gives you political power in this country, and it is not a vote. It is cash dollars. If you don't have them, you have nothing. A vote in this election, like in any other election, is a vote for this system of politics in which money is the number one motivator, where all politicans are held in debt to the corporations who pay for them to be elected. Please, don't vote. Current Mood: irritated Current Music: rahaan - disco not disco mix

September 22nd, 200605:23 pm: me, a nerd? no way!
Pure Nerd 86 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 34% Dork |
For The Record:
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions. You scored better than half in Nerd, earning you the title of: Pure Nerd.
The times, they are a-changing. It used to be that being exceptionally smart led to being unpopular, which would ultimately lead to picking up all of the traits and tendences associated with the "dork." No-longer. Being smart isn't as socially crippling as it once was, and even more so as you get older: eventually being a Pure Nerd will likely be replaced with the following label: Purely Successful.
Congratulations!
Thanks Again! -- THE NERD? GEEK? OR DORK? TEST |
|
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
|
You scored higher than 99% on nerdiness |
|
You scored higher than 99% on geekosity |
|
You scored higher than 99% on dork points |

my (now) annual post-detroit summertime mix is here! done on 2 turntables and a crappy mixer in the oppressive heat, just like last year. if you want a flawless mix of nothing but the freshest minimal techno, dont bother with my mix. here you get all the flaws of mixing live drumming, records with different mastering, etc. the mix is entitled "Chance of Severe Thunderstorms"............ http://www.cornwarning.com/tomcox/Only Child featuring Amp Fiddler - "Find A Way (Yam Who Remix)" - Grand Central 12" Leela James - "Music" - Warner Bros. 12" Melba Moore - "Standing Right Here" - Buddah 12" Imagination - "Changes (Larry Levan Remix)" - Unidisc 12" Andrea True Connection - "Partline" - Buddah 12" Brenda and the Tabulations - "Let's Go All The Way (Down) [Danny Krivit Re-Edit]" - Casablanca 12" Mahogany - "Ride On The Rhythm" - West End 12" Staple Singers - "Slippery People (Club Version)" - Private I 12" Touch - "Without You" - SuperTronics 12" Barbara Roy - "Gotta See You Tonight (Extended Dub Version)" - RCA/Victor 12" B-52's - "Deep Sleep" - Warner Bros 12" Reggie Dokes - "War of Decadence (Short Mix 1)" - Psychostasia 12" Rick Wilhite - "Good Kiss" - 3 Chairs/Sound Signature 12" Jive Rhythm Trax - "114 B.P.M." - Jive LP Hugh Masekela - "The Boy's Doin' It (Carl Craig Remix)" - Verve 12" i hope you enjoy it, its definitely one for the hot humid summertime steelo...... massive propers to kent williams again for hosting this mix, as well as the one from last year. this new mix was done (completely coincidentally) while wearing the hot "313@hyperreal.org" shirt that kent made for the festival this year. he's a renaissance man! much love, kent......... June 4th, 200605:44 pm: movie quotes meme that everyone else already did
1. Pick 20 of your favorite movies. 2. Then pick one of your favorite quote/s from each movie. 3. Post the quotes in your journal. 4. Have those on your friends list to guess what the movie is. 5. Either strike out the quote once it has been correctly identified, or place the guesser's user name directly after the quote. 1. "Heywood leads the league in most offensive categories, including nose hair." 2. "The royal penis is clean, your highness." 3. "Hustling like raindrops!" 4. "Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here, with a big ribbon on his head, and I want to look him straight in the eye and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, dickless, hopeless, heartless, fat-ass, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed sack of monkey shit he is. Hallelujah. Holy shit. Where's the Tylenol?" 5. "In a word: pleasure. It's like, my pleasure in other people's leisure." 6. "Oh, Jordy Verrill, you lunkhead!" 7. "There's that word again; "heavy". Why are things so heavy in the future? Is there a problem with the earth's gravitational pull?" 8. "Uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?" 9. "Take away the pornography; take away, you know, the, you know, women-bashing; take away the kill-whitey stuff. Take it all away, and you've got the kids next door, you really do." 10. "Oh, please proceed, Oh great Niggerologist." Current Mood: irritated Current Music: bolt whining
June 1st, 200609:18 pm: music shuffle meme
Music shuffle meme Here's what you do: 1. Turn on your favorite media player and turn your shuffle feature on. 2. Hit "play" and keep track of the next 10 songs that come up. (If you have iTunes, you can make a smart playlist that will automatically list your most recently played selections.) 3. Post your 10 shuffled songs, along with these instructions. You are not allowed to lie, omit tracks or otherwise try to make your musical taste seem hipper than it actually is. 4. Tag five people on your friends list to do the same. here's my 10 tracks: 1. Remarc - Sound Murderer 2. Drexciya - Lost Vessel 3. Recloose - Dencity 4. DJ Yoda & Greenpeace - Essential Mix 5. Model 500 - It's Time 6. Tom Waits - Fawn 7. Underground Resistance - Jupiter Jazz 8. Charlie Parker - Yardin' With Yard 9. Shifted Phases - Waveform Cascades 10. ??? - Girls Girls (some dancehall cut from a Lexxus mix) byw, its easy to not lie or omit tracks when you only listen to music that is the shit. though i think its kinda strange that in 80 gigs worth of MP3s somehow two Drexciya cuts came up. weird. i tag clobby and rainbow_boobies because theyre the only people on my friends list who werent alreadt tagged and who might actually read this post and then actually do it. have fun! May 22nd, 200604:47 pm: the fucking da vinci code
after watching like 35 straight hours of history channel programming last night about the shit they talk about in that book, and then seeing it sitting around at my mom's house i decided to just read the fucker. took about 6 hours of reading. turns out dood has the vocabulary of a 4th grader and not much storytelling skill to help it out. the story line is not bad really, but he repeats EVERYTHING if its a necessary detail, making it pretty obvious whats about to happen. and when he doesnt do that, he pulls out some obscure shit he didnt mention before which is equally as frustrating. he also doesnt understand the principle of "show, don't tell". if something is the tiniest bit obscured, he'll insert a paragraph unnecessarily breaking it down for the mentally retarded out there in his audience. overall, i give it a C- for having a plot that is at least decent despite ripping off "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", "Illuminatus!", and "National Trasure". the upside is it seems like it would be a fun movie like National Treasure was. but not for $8.50, ill wait for it to hit the cheapo theatres. February 23rd, 200609:51 pm: turning down gigs on principle
is it wrong to turn down a gig offer from a recent pittsburgh transplant who works for a tobacco company and has approached my friends with the idea of having said tobacco co. sponsor bringing "big name" deejays into town? big tobacco are amongst the worst fuckers as far as my opinion goes, even though this night technically has nothing to do with it, im not really down with being associated with someone who is that ensnared in the beast. i certainly would never play for or attend an event sponsored by a tobacco company.....
